Now, I must say this. Te Anau offered us the best as well as the worst food experience. It was in this town where we tried NZ’s Tip Top ice cream for the first time, had THE best mushroom soup we have ever tasted, good lamb sandwiches, etc. These more than compensated for the not-as-good dinner we had on our second night in Te Anau. Details as follows:
First Day – Lunch – Sandfly Cafe
First day – Dinner – Redcliff Bar & Restaurant
Second day – Dinner – Kepler’s Family Restaurant
Second Day – Supper – The Ranch Bar & Grill
A well-known dessert in NZ is the Sticky Date Pudding. Actually, it isn’t that sticky. Think of a wetter pandan cake with a mild date taste. The Ranch Bar’s version is excellent. We didn’t try their main course though.
