The shelter above our head was settled. So now, time for food. Queenstown’s full of options, too many that I’ll have to only highlight the good stuff.
Dinner – First Night – Fishbone Bar and Grill
Service was awesome. The waiter took effort to make us feel at home and ensured that our needs were met. Thumbs-up. The food matched their top-notch service standard.
Lunch – Second Day – Fergburger
Friends recommended we try the burgers in this place, and they did us a great favour. The food’s good, but note that seating is limited. Be prepared to queue for a little while. The locals are not in any rush.
Pre-dinner – Second Night – Cookie Time
If you love Subway cookies, you definitely, most positively have to try Cookie Time. Depending on the flavours, some are chewy while others are crispy. And all are freshly baked, except the pre-packed ones of course. It was so good that I bought a tub back for sharing. Craving for a good deal? Cookie Time has one-for-one cookie offers daily from 6pm to 7pm. We cooked our dinner in the lodge after having pre-dinner cookies.
Dinner – Third Night – Roaring Megs
This is by far one of the better restaurants in Queenstown, and NZ maybe. The host was friendly, and the food was good. Though slightly more expensive, the dishes that we tried are well worth the price.
Supper – Third Night – The Bathhouse Tapas Bar and Restaurant
Let’s just say that the chocolate sponge cake was really good – thick fudge and a huge serving size. The carrot cake was meh.
Brunch – Fourth Day – Vudu Cafe
There are two Vudu cafe outlets in Queenstown. One is bigger and serves more food options. Coffee’s not my thing, so I can’t really remember how it tasted like. The cakes (update: they were tarts) were a little hard. We had some trouble cutting it, creating a huge mess on the table. haha. Good point: We reached Vudu cafe in the morning, but they were already out of carrot cake. We heard it was the bomb…
- For all food related posts, I will not give a numerical rating cause I am no culinary expert. If something is really good, I will do a mention. If something is really bad, expect it to appear in these posts too.
- Also, we ate simple breakfasts in the motels, instead of eating out. 1) To save money and 2) to leave enough space in our tummies for lunch and dinner
