Outdoor Gyms


Spent some time exercising at the newly-constructed gym at the common area just beside my block. While enjoying the afternoon sun, a great idea popped into my mind – we should have more outdoor gyms. We can exercise and get some Vitamin D (and a tan as well) at the same time. Yes yes, it will be hard to maintain the equipment in Singapore’s weather, but so far, the ones built by the government are surviving well. Apart from some marks left by vandals, they are still working quite well. Although you can’t (really) adjust the weights and resistance, the exercise stations are still quite effective as they provide ‘weighted resistance’ according to the body weight of the user. The heavier you are, the harder it is to manipulate the equipment which makes for a calorie-burning exercise. 🙂
