At last, after 24 hours from the start of this groupon deal, the discount voucher is finally in my hands – my 2nd one so far. I have been receiving so many email ‘spam’ from Groupon, but nothing was as tempting as this offer. 6 bucks (service charge and gst all included) for a plate of fish n chips. Too hard to ignore. 57% savings. I bought 4 vouchers. woohoo. Since I have not eaten anything from Manhattan Fish Market before, why not. I wouldn’t want to pay full price to test out MFM’s food.
Almost 30,000 people succumbed to the temptation. MFM is richer by SGD174,354 (but I am not sure how much Groupon will gain from this figure though). That’s a lot of money man.
Now, why am I not surprised. With such deals, there will be specific terms and conditions.
Firstly, you can only claim it at the 5 outlets listed above within the next 2 months. 30,000 vouchers in the free market now. For MFM to fulfill all these orders, each of these 5 outlets need to serve 100 customers per day for the next two months. Queues will be long, reservation hotlines will be jammed up. Stamp, chop, guarantee.
Another T&C I would like to highlight: “Groupon printout MUST be presented before placing orders.” Why the emphasis on MUST? Can’t we show them the voucher after the meal or during payment? It is as though they have some sneaky plans up their sleeves for those who will be claiming their Groupon vouchers. I hope that the serving size of their Fish n Chips wouldn’t be halved or something. That would be unethical.
