Popular entertainment outlet OverTime has arrived in Singapore with 2 new outlets at Dempsey Hill and Holland Village after creating huge waves in Malaysia. Designed for the after-office crowd, OverTime brings a whole new meaning to ‘after-hours’ enjoyment (without breathing in 2nd-hand smoke too).
The grand opening, held on 16th December 2010 at the Dempsey Hill outlet, was graced by famous Taiwanese top-model and actress Lin Chiling, many well-known celebrities from MediaCorp and key guests from the media and entertainment industries. It was the very first time I saw Mediacorp Artistes up close. SO COOL! haha
Lin Chiling, together with Alan Loh, Head of Entertainment and Marketing of OverTime headquarters, served the very first pint of Starker Fresh Beer in the traditional German way – by hammering a tab into the barrel.
During the wait for Lin Chiling to arrive, I had the opportunity to help myself to the buffet spread prepared by their in-house crew. It was quite a spread with baby squids, sambal squid rings, shao rou, fried rice, ribs and a whole row of nonya kueh. (A detailed food review coming soon, in the near future.)
3 Sessions, a local independent band, started belting out a famous pop song, ‘distracting’ me from the tempting spread. Local budding musicians and vocalists, don’t fret, OverTime supports the congregation of Singapore’s home-grown music talents with a raised stage situated right in the centre of the Dempsey Hill outlet, supported by a decent sound system (and 4 led parcans too).
About 150 guests were present, but OverTime’s waiters and waitresses found time to chat with us, and ensured that we were comfortable. Bagus! All of them served with smiles on their faces despite the many requests for both beer and non-alcoholic drinks. There was this lady and came to me twice to apologise that my Coke will be delayed because of the sudden surge of orders for the award-winning Starker Fresh Beer. Good customer service, awesome!
Let me end with a quote from Alan Loh.
“At OverTime, we aim to ensure our guests enjoy a pleasant overtime with a solid selection of good food, the unique Staker Fresh Beer and great company in a wonderful environment,” said Alan Loh. “Always remember, it is never about work when you are at OverTime!”
